Shannon Wheeler is one of the funniest and more poignant social critics amongst the creators gracing the comics industry. For those familiar with his hit series Too Much Coffee Man, a big treat awaits Wheeler afficionados this coming Friday night at the opening of Too Much Coffee Man Opera. You read it right, a real live opera event based on Shannon Wheeler's landmark comic book social satire.
The event is limited to 4 performances on September 22, 23, 29 and 30, at the Brunish Hall in Portland, Oregan. The performance stars Stacey Murdock, Matt Dolphin and Jasmine Presson. Music composed by Daniel Steven Crafts, lyrics by Damian Willcox & Shannon Wheeler and choreography by Carolyn Holzman. Looking at this animation promoting the event, it promises to be a hilarious and marvelously crafted production.

Shannon confided about the coming excitement:
"I try and be unpretentious about the stuff I do but I really am proud of this thing. We have professional opera singers, costume, lighting, stage manaer, production manager... I'm part of something much bigger than myself. It's been a gas."
So, if you plan to be in the Portland area or want to support this giant leap for a comics creator while getting the best entertainment value available anywhere, make it a point to catch this unique and promising event.
