At Naftali's Place
Photos of large and small paintings to decorate Naftali's Place. Summer 2008. Projects were inspired by operations director Emil Vely. Rastaman. Extraordinary man.
It is perhaps Emil's vision for a shanti type, relaxed environment with youthful appeal, which helped gain Benny Naftali's enterprise the fondness it holds for the more relaxed of Israeli youth over the last several years. As operations director, living on location, Emil is caretaker of thousands who come to Naftali's during the summer. The collective achievement of the Naftali family and Emil Vely is perhaps best credited to the vision and goodwill they spread across the shores of Dugit beach on the Galilee.
The first set of photos depicts repainting a pre-existing Bob Marley-like dancing figure. Centerpiece of the main floor area. The art had faded considerably since a young artist painted it some years past. While the character depicted was changed to resemble Emil, the structure of the figure and background colors were maintained, so it remains a reminder of her work. Comparison photo at end of set.
