Attracting Lots of Attention
This one liner in a links post at Pop Culture Safari is a few days old, but we've been receiving very good traffic from it and would like John to know it's well appreciated.

Comics artist Michael Netzer is attracting lots of attention to his efforts to save DC Comics character J'Onn J'Onzz, the Manhunter from Mars.

J'Onn J'Onzz, Martian Manhunter, Marked For Death?
Rick Marshall covers the campaign effort, giving it merit even in light of the uncertainty of a decision, one way or the other, by DC Comics.

While neither the certainty of J'Onn's death nor the ability to halt any existing plans for his demise at this point are certain, there's something to be said for the support the character is receiving from Netzer and other fans. On the flip side, a quick Google for "Save Aquaman" campaigns doesn't seem to register any hits.
Even noting that the show of support for J'Onn J'Onzz is a good enough reason for this effort, Rick isn't the first to ask: What about Aquaman? Certianly not the best situation for the King of the Seven Seas to be in, and the concern must surely need to be addressed at some point down the line.
Occasional Superheroine
The "Save Martian Manhunter" Movement
Snugly placed in the center of her new feature, the 10 most buzz worthy items of the week in comics, this is also a one line link mention by Valerie D'Orozio that has brought a notable amount of traffic in the short time it's been posted. Valerie's popular blog, Occasional Superheroine, takes a rather direct and no-holds-barred, yet charmingly elegant, look at the comics and entertainment worlds, well worth inclusion into the reading list.

Is MM on the chopping block for Final Crisis? Michael Netzer says "Nay!"
Planet Chile Forums
Save J'Onn J'Onzz!
Technical administrator at Spanish language Planet Chile Forums, riork, raised the torch that was lit in Spain by the Martian Manhunter Fotolog, and began a thread about the campaign.

Scott Nash: Pity that one has to kill a person in order to sustain a story, rather than the story itself attract readers by its content and plot.
Breach: Hopefully this campaign will change the strategy of DC so that CRISES does not only turn out to be kill crazy. SO PUT AWAY THE PLANS TO KILL THE MARTIAN AND MAKE SOMETHING GOOD OUT OF THE END OF FINAL COUNTDOWN TO CRISIS.
Abject Conjecture
Keeping up with the J'Onzz's
Another very nice blog by Mark Gibson, covering comics and entertainment industry news.

I'm a crispy optimistic cookie topped with a layer of nearly crippling caramel insecurity and coated in chocolatey cynicism.
Mark not only signed the petition yesterday but has also placed a banner at his site and gives the effort a rather fine plug in this post. Much gratitude, Mark!

Thanks to the heads up via Rich Johnston's rumor of the Martian Manhunter's possible demise as fodder for the next crisis, Mike Netzer now leads an effort to save J'Onn from this alleged editorial assassination. Click on this link to sign his petition and read his offer/plea to DC editorial. You can also get a banner for your website to help spread the word.

Huge Fan of J’onn
This blog, an interesting and simplified format powered by Tumblr, leaves no clue as to its keeper's identity. But the message of support for J'Onn J'Onzz and flattering use of the image are unmistakable.

God I love this logo - I also am a huge fan of J’onn. I am saddened that DC seems incapable of producing a monthly book around this character. What does it say about DC that they can’t take a character like this or Kirby’s Fourth World and make it work? Am I the only one that finds nearly all of DC’s monthly books painful and unreadable? Why were DC Comic better/more fun back in the 80’s?
Tales from the Longbox
COMICS FANDOM UNITES TO SAVE J’ONN J’ONZZ
Chris Mosby keeps a resources rich web site of comics industry news, commentary and reviews, where he also tells of his affection for comic books.

To put this into a timeline context, I have read comics almost everyday of my life since I was about 3 or 4 years old (Except for those three months in high school I dated that cheerleader with the big nose, but I won't get into that here). I don't plan on stopping anytime soon, I can assure you. It is just too much of a good thing.
Tales from the Longbox has also registered a considerable amount of hits to this campaign when Chris posted the press release sent out to the Super Hero News listmail service. Much thanks, Chris.
Todo Juegos Forum
Universal Signatures Thread
Spanish forum Todo Juegos Advisory Council member Il Luthier, brandishing a DC Comics logo for an avatar, coyly placed one of the campaign banners for a signature, evoking curiosity and eventually requests for an explanation, which he promptly answered by sending forum members to our campaign and registering notable traffic from there.

We Must save the Martian Manhunter! Come On! Click on the "signature". Because if J'Onn dies, then Aquaman will still be around... Either the Martian Manhunter or Aquaman! Is it so difficult to choose? Just do it!
Well, while we don't support the offing of Aquaman as a motive to save J'Onn, we certainly do appreciate the link, effort and traffic, Sir Luthier.
Imwan Forums
Michael Netzer Thread
For those who might remember Checking in @ Imwan Asylum, and the warm and fabulous community which endured a long thread of Nasser/Netzer artwork and endearing inmate fellowship... well, that thread has never been entirely silent and is still referenced today when needed. Kevin posted the news of this campaign with a link into that thread today, reminding me that I need to spend a little more time with the gang again.

Mr. Netzer has written an open letter to DC, making his case to save the Martian Manhunter from a rumoured demise in FINAL CRISIS. It's good reading.
The thread carries much good vintage artwork worth taking a look at. I still need to finish that Dr. Strange sketch for Gerry, who scanned and posted a good portion of it... coming soon Ger.
The Comic Watch
Netzer unites fandom in an effort to save J’onn J’onzz
The Comic Watch is an indexing service for comics industry news and commentary. Though there exists no original content there, it is interesting to see such a service devoted only to gathering together, classifying and indexing the comics industry web items. In this case, content relevant to this campaign. Though perhaps completely automated, it promises to become a useful reference tool as the industry web content becomes more robust with the passing of time. A service certainly worthy of mention and support in the comics web community.
And lastly, a few of the recent petition comments.
Kent Phenis:

DC should stop the killing and treat their properties with respect. While Captain Comet may be the first super-hero of the Silver Age, he was viewed more of a Flash Gordon type character rather than a super-hero. The fact that Gardner Fox included J'Onn in the new Justice League of America is the cement that J'Onn is really the first Silver Age super-hero. He has been treated as dirt in the past, most notably in the late 60s, and deserves his place in the DCU. I plea with DC to leave J'Onn alone and let him shine as he should, a staple and core of the DCU.
Rick Bennett:

I don't understand why DC would kill the Martian Manhunter after making him an integral part of JLA, Smallville, and The Batman. Would his demise be part of all this? I've enjoyed this character for years and it would be sad to see him go.
James Woods - Freelance Writer:

The Martian Manhunter is an old favorite of mine. I would be highly disappointed to see him cut from the DCU.
Steve Cohen - Moderator:

THE MANHUNTER FROM MARS is an untapped resource for DC COMICS. This character has the potential to be huge in this decade and from now on. I believe that Dc could take him a long way by playing up the detective aspect of the character and making him a CSI type of investigator, or maybe an X-FILES type character.
For DC to kill off a character with a 50 year history is to tarnish its reputation, please return DC to some of its missing former glory and sellig power by keeping J'Onn around.
Stephen Cassidy - Do Not Kill J'Onn J'Onnz!:

DC, it is "events" like this proposed idea that turned me off to buying comic books in the first place. Since I came back to reading comics after almost 15 years, Martian Manhunter has become one of my favorite characters. (Primarily because of the late, lamented John Ostrander/Tom Mandrake series of the late '90s) Please don't kill that character just for a quick sales boost. As a comic book reader, those sort of stunts are always transparent and annoying.
Hetor - PLeasE !!!:

Hello, I am another pissed off DC comics reader from Spain.
I suppose that wraps up the campaign trail rather eloquently for today. Please do follow the link below to sign the petition by leaving a comment, if you haven't done so yet.
Much thanks again to everyone for the linking, banners and articles.
