In all the reporting, big and small, by news organizations and news bloggers, of the Scooter Libby trial, there’s something that keeps falling through the cracks.

It’s the issue of treason. Yes, I understand that Libby is being tried for perjury, obstruction of justice and making false statements to the FBI, but what we are really dealing with here is treason during a time of war and that’s exactly what breaking the Intelligence Identities Protection Act constitutes.

The continued question remains will this act of treason, as an act of treason be addressed. Will someone in the polite society that is Washington stand up and call this for what it was? Perjury was a stain on a dress and a betrayal of a wife. Treason is a stain on the Constitution and the betrayal of one’s country.
